Is Calcbot coming to Notification Panel ?

I have been a big fan and still use Calcbots iOS app, though they have gotten a little stale/dated as the screen aspect ratio and graphics haven’t been updated since iOS-6. The running ’tape’ is indespensible for me for emailing calculations on the fly. This is welcome feature on the desktop version as well as the new feature to ’star’ and save often used equations and ratios. As an architect, I find this extremely usefull and a real time saver. My only disapointment is that on the desktop app during normal use the window keeps getting lost: There are no preference options to keep the app ‘on-top while you sift through other documents, or even better yet, would be the ability to add it to the notifications panel for easy quick access.

Why no AC button??

Wish there was a Clear All button. Next version??? I would also like to have a settings button where I could easily switch back to straight calculations if I’ve been using the currency mode. Not sure how I got into currency mode anyway, but it’s nice for bill paying. Just can’t find how to get out of that mode.

It’s great but Don’t like the icon.

There is nothing to complain about. It looks great, works great. I just hate the icon. Please change that :)

A lot to like with one big problem

I’ve been a fan of Calcbot since it’s iPhone release. I continued to use it even after Tapbots abandoned the app for several years. I was excited to see the Mac version released alongside the Mac update. For the most part, the design and execution are perfect. There is, however, one critical issue that keeps me from giving a higher rating. When entering calculations at the keyboard, Calcbot has a finnicky relationship with the shift key. If you release shift even a split second before the key you’re modifying, e.g., plus sign, Calcbot will register the unmodified version of the key. In the example of the plus sign, Calcbot will often register an equal sign and compute the current expression. This is unusual behavior that frequently slows me down and diminishes my enjoyment of an otherwise great app.

the same problems remain

the problem with ability to change from conversion calculator to numbers only calculator is still not fixed in version 1.0.2 If you start conversions then you cannot exit this mode after. The developers admit the problem, but dont fix it. Bad design

The default OS X calculator is superior

I’ve always stayed away from this app after purchasing. This app doesn’t have a clear button, and your prior calculations stay in the app after closing. When I would pull up this calculator to do a quick calculation, it would give me an unexpected answer, due to the previous calculation still being in the app. Today I decided to use this app to add up about 50 hours entries, thinking that the “tape” idea would be good to show the additions that were done, and double-check my work. Unfortunately, after I enter about 10 additions, it computes the result, meaning that I have to click “use expression” constantly in order to continue my work. Being finished, I try to view the tape that should have shown my 50 results in vertical orientation, yet there was only the choice of horizontal orientation, meaning that all of my additions were scrolled off the screen, and I had no way to view them. This calculator has truly been a waste of my time. It puzzles me that this app has all sorts of features for converting units, but in its central purpose of being a calculator, it’s actually inferior to the default OS X calculator. Stick with the OS X calculator. It has a clear button, a better scientific mode, a programmer’s mode, and it is more streamlined for actual calculator use.

The reveiws below are false.

I don’t understand why people would write flase reviews on such a great calculator. Ther are no such bugs as listed below. The calculator is awesome, and it has order of operations. I wish they would add suport for key boarding such as: ^ means x power of. Or or pi for π. I hope they improve the keyboard support so I can give them a five-star.

BUG: Clear Button become Zero button, very annoying to daily use!!

Don’t update to the new version, it created a BUG, the clear button become a ZERO button, very annoying to daily use, reported to vendor, this should be easy to fix, but nobody update the app so far… :(((

Calcbot?

It converts only if you can do the calculations in your head. I am so sorry that I bothered purchasing this terrible application.

A great little calculator

A very polished calculator with a few nice features that improve on the built-in Calculator app.

Copy/Paste to PDF file does not work

I bought this app because it told me you could copy and past the results. I tried to paste to a PDF file and it will not work. All it does is paste a group of different sized boxes. I’m not sure what other type of business application you would use the copy/paste function for, but it will not work on PDF files.
