The default OS X calculator is superior
I’ve always stayed away from this app after purchasing. This app doesn’t have a clear button, and your prior calculations stay in the app after closing. When I would pull up this calculator to do a quick calculation, it would give me an unexpected answer, due to the previous calculation still being in the app.
Today I decided to use this app to add up about 50 hours entries, thinking that the “tape” idea would be good to show the additions that were done, and double-check my work. Unfortunately, after I enter about 10 additions, it computes the result, meaning that I have to click “use expression” constantly in order to continue my work.
Being finished, I try to view the tape that should have shown my 50 results in vertical orientation, yet there was only the choice of horizontal orientation, meaning that all of my additions were scrolled off the screen, and I had no way to view them.
This calculator has truly been a waste of my time. It puzzles me that this app has all sorts of features for converting units, but in its central purpose of being a calculator, it’s actually inferior to the default OS X calculator.
Stick with the OS X calculator. It has a clear button, a better scientific mode, a programmer’s mode, and it is more streamlined for actual calculator use.
