A lot to like with one big problem
I’ve been a fan of Calcbot since it’s iPhone release. I continued to use it even after Tapbots abandoned the app for several years. I was excited to see the Mac version released alongside the Mac update. For the most part, the design and execution are perfect. There is, however, one critical issue that keeps me from giving a higher rating. When entering calculations at the keyboard, Calcbot has a finnicky relationship with the shift key. If you release shift even a split second before the key you’re modifying, e.g., plus sign, Calcbot will register the unmodified version of the key. In the example of the plus sign, Calcbot will often register an equal sign and compute the current expression. This is unusual behavior that frequently slows me down and diminishes my enjoyment of an otherwise great app.
